AO3 Tag Set
AO3 Collection

Schedule:
Nominations Open - October 12
Nominations Close - October 21
Sign Ups Open - October 26
Sign Ups Close - November 4
Assignments Due - December 14
Works Revealed - December 21
Creators Revealed - December 31

Nominations:
You can nominate 5 fandoms and 10 relationships.

Use & to indicate platonic relationships.
Use / to indicate romantic relationships.

There are no restrictions on what fandoms can be nominated.
Non-fandom nominations should be under the Original Works fandom.
Crossovers should be nominated under the Crossover fandom with each character's original fandom in parentheses after their name.
Whenever possible, fandoms should be nominated as the largest umbrella fandom that is applicable. If you think the umbrella fandom tag will lead to confusion, please add a subfandom in parentheses after the character's name.
Along those same lines, please nominate any movies or TV shows related to Marvel Studios under Marvel Cinematic Universe. This includes, but is not limited to, Agents of Shield, Agent Carter, Netflix Marvel, and Venom.
I'm not familiar with comic universes, so if people who are would help me know how best to approve those nominations, it would be appreciated.

Sign Ups:

You can make 3-10 requests and 3-10 offers.
In the sign up form you will indicate whether you want art or a fic as your gift, and which you are willing to create.

Assignments:
Fics must be at least 1000 words.
Art must be at least a complete line drawing.

Works must not include any elements listed as Do Not Wants (DNW) by your recipient.

We are taking a very loose stance on the Fluff requirement. As long as you include some fluffy aspects, you can add angst, hurt/comfort, smut, or whatever other aspects you want.

Pinch hits will be posted to the community. If you think you can't finish your work by the deadline, please default on AO3.

For something like Star Wars, do we nominate individual subfandoms or do we use the All Media Types umbrella?

MCU

Eddie Brock/Venom Symbiote aren't in the MCU. Venom is separate from it.

You really should disambiguate ships too especially for comic related, Star Trek, Star Wars, Transformers, and Tolkien.

Venom isn't part of the MCU at all. It is a completely separate universe. It is as related to the MCU as the Arrow TV show is to 60s Batman TV show. If you are grouping them together then you might as well group every single Marvel adaptation into one group.

You disambiguate tags by putting the fandom name in parenthesis. This is to prevent wandering tags as AO3 will associate tags to the wrong fandom if one of the characters is part of that fandom, even if the other doesn't. You don't need to know the fandom to disambiguate, just change the tags as you accept them. If you don't you are just going to cause massive headaches for yourself later.

I don't really understand the umbrella fandom thing, not much familiar with AO3's tag system, but does the Arrowverse fall under the same rule as the MCU? Because it is less connected I guess, but it is connected. I was going to submit Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow separately, but there are characters who are the same in both fandoms, so I'm guessing it's better to nominate the umbrella? And if so, am I creating the umbrella tag? Because Arrowverse as an AO3 tag does not exist, while MCU does.

I nominated a bunch for The Flash under "CW's Arrowverse DC TV."

Thank you!

On an unrelated note, the link to the Dreamwidth community on the AO3 profile isn't working.

Do we let you know if we see something in the tag set that is under the wrong fandom?

Like, I see a nominated pairing that should be under The Hobbit (Jackson movies), but has somehow wandered into the Lord of the Rings (Movies).

I ask because it is a pairing that I nominated under The Hobbit (Jackson movies) and it's showing in both places when one of the characters of the pairing was not in the LotR movies?

How about Doctor Who and the various related fandoms? AO3 has the Classic series and New series as separate fandoms, and then there are the spin-offs like Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures. Some exchanges have them all in one Doctor Who fandom, some have them in all the separate fandoms. I see that someone's already nominated Torchwood; I'm planning to nominate both Classic Who (ie. Doctor Who (1963)) and New Who (ie. Doctor Who (2005)) and am wondering if I should do separate nominations or if all of these are going to be combined into the same fandom anyway.

Yes, this. Venom isn't part of the MCU, period. Forcing it in there for whatever reason just makes no sense, and will also turn people off. I'm not sure why the mod ignored that part of your comment either.

With regard to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, where can it be nominated? It's a mobile game with its own story set in Hogwarts, but in the same universe as the Harry Potter books so far, with no deviations (that I know of.) It's meant to take place in the seven years before Harry is at Hogwarts, so as to be canon compliant with the books while being its own story.

There's no canonical tag for it though. Should I just put that in with the books or do it on its own?
