General likes: childhood flashbacks and backstory, flashbacks and pre-canon backstory in general, slice of life, dreams and other ways to look into the characters' subconscious (I like when it gets very weird, but it also doesn't have to), symbolism, parallels, character study, "what if" AU and other kinds of canon divergent AUs, time travel AU in the context of getting a second chance to do something from the past differently, future/post-canon, characters having fun, friendships, exploring canon mental illness and the process of healing from trauma
General dislikes (DNW): any romance, any sex, any kink, non-canon abuse (canon abuse is okay, especially in the context of healing and processing - as mentions, flashbacks, etc.), sickness and someone being taken care of (grooming, feeding, etc.), possessiveness, mind control and possession, violating consent and freedom also in a non-sexual context also when it applies to children (convincing someone to do things they don't like, "playfully" tickling when someone says no, making someone do something "for their own good", intentionally limiting someone's choices, etc.), non-canon pregnancy
Additional fandom-specific likes: Azula breaking free and figuring out who she really is (re: Aang & Azula relationship)
Regarding winter holidays (since it's a holiday challenge): Since winter holidays as we know them don't exist in canon, I'd rather they were not in the fic. (It would require a modern AU, which is not a DNW, but also not something I'm very interested in.)
